BARCELONA ART TOUR (Private tour)

Barcelona is not just one of the cities in Spain with most museums, but one of the best cities in the world to experience art in. In Barcelona you can visit more than 60 museums, including art galleries, and museums focusing on diverse themes such as history, religion, war, sports, science, music, architecture and entertainment. Barcelona even has a chocolate museum showing you the history of chocolate!

The tour
During this tour we will show you the three best art museums in Barcelona, that will let you get insight into not only art but also the history of Barcelona and Catalonia:
  • The Picasso Museum
  • The National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC)
  • The Miró Museum
The Picasso Museum
When you visit the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, one should not expect to see one masterpiece after another. The museum contains mainly works from the early period of Picasso's production - and this period is the key to understand Picasso's later development.

Picasso's earlier developments in the years before in 1904 moving to Paris, is characterized by large experiments. Picasso devours one style after another in a fierce experimentation process that really never ends. But with the beginning of the so-called Blue Period, some form of order and uniformity can be seen in the works of Picasso.

It is the early experiments and the blue period, which is the focus of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, making the museum into an exciting study of Picasso's development against the talent that makes him the 20th century, perhaps best-known artist.

The Miro Museum
Fundació Joan Miró, located at the Montjuic Hill, embraces an extraordinarily comprehensive collection of works by Joan Miró. His art can also be seen in other places in Barcelona city:

Woman and Bird (1982): is a spectacular ceramic sculpture located in the Parc Joan Miró
Woman (1983): a bronze sculpture woman in the courtyard of Casa de la Ciutat
In la Rambla you can also see the circular pavement at the Pla de l’Os.

MNAC

Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) holds all the art (sculpture, painting, engraving, drawing, photography, posters, etc.) with the main purpose to explain the general history of Catalan art.
